About Us
Rokeby Museum is a National Historic Landmark described as ''unrivaled'' by the National Park Service. A stunning new exhibit--Free & Safe: The Underground Railroad in Vermont--opened in 2013. Free & Safe introduces visitors to Simon and Jesse, two fugitives from slavery who found shelter here in the 1830s, and to the abolitionist Robinson family who called Rokeby home. An 1814 house is fully furnished with 200 years of family belongings. Once a thriving Merino sheep farm, Rokeby retains nine historic farm buildings and acres of pastoral landscape that invite a leisurely stroll or a hike up the trail. Picnic tables accommodate lunch outdoors.
