    About Us

Since 1959 the Middlebury Community Players have been producing local theater for Addison County audiences. As of May, 2015, we have presented 149 shows (comedies, dramas and musicals), with all-volunteer casts and crews. The Players' mission is to promote theater in Addison County, which we do by not only producing our own shows, but by supporting many other productions in the area with the loan of costumes, props, set pieces and furniture, the use of building materials and sometimes work space. As a resident company of Town Hall Theater, a portion of MCP's show revenues contribute to the operation and upkeep of the theater. In addition, MCP provides some funding for Town Hall Theater education programs.

Every year the Players award two $1,000 college scholarships for young people who have worked with the Players during their high school years.

The Middlebury Community Players welcome everyone interested in, or curious about, theater, to participate in any aspect of our work. There are roles both onstage and off. No prior experience is required, just the willingness to work and explore your own possibilities. You don't think you can act, sing or dance? Have you tried? We will give you the chance to audition, and if you don't land a part the first time, there are many other ways to be involved before the next auditions for the next show.

Not interested in being on stage but wonder what happens behind the scenes? What interests you: makeup? sound? lights? hair? set building? stage management? props? painting? publicity? Contact us through the website, by phone or through any of our board members (listed on the website). We will find something you can try with us. Come find a new way to have fun, explore the art of theater and make new friends!!
