• Career Technical Education Special Needs Coordinator

    The Patricia A. Hannaford Career Center (PAHCC) is looking for a Special Needs Coordinator to join their team starting in August 2025.

    General Description: The Special Needs Coordinator develops and maintains relationship with students, instructors, administrators, and sending school case managers, with the purpose of supporting IEPs and 504s for individual students in PAHCC programs, as well as others who are determine to be in need of additional support, or meet the Vermont Agency of Education definition of special population.

    Job Classification: Licensed Instructional, 1 FTE

    Reports to: Assistant Director, PAHCC

    Location: PAHCC Main Campus, 51 Charles Avenue, Middlebury VT 05753
    Work Schedule: School calendar / 187 contracted days per year
    Pay: $52,000.00 - $104,000.00 per year
    Starting date: August 2025

    Minimum Qualifications: CTE License for Special Needs Coordinator 5440-87 or ability to obtain that endorsement. Bachelor’s degree with a Vermont Teacher Special Education License. Master’s Degree with administration license preferred.

    Responsibilities
    Supplemental duties provided in the technical setting will include the following:

    • Ensure that all required paperwork is on file for all special Services students at PAHCC
    • Ensure that all IEP/504 meetings are held in accordance with VT special education guidelines for technical education
    • Ensure that meetings notes are maintained on file at the Center
    • Maintain communication with all stakeholders and maintain communication records in a log (i.e. phone log or other record)
    • Maintain direct communication with the Assistant Director on areas of concern or question
    • Provide technical/career outreach activities including coordination with sending schools on
    • special Services and coordination with the outside entities on employment opportunities
    • Coordinate IEP/504s with sending schools including implementation of the transition goals and objectives in CTE setting.
    • Establish and coordinate team planning with each program instructor to assess how a student will receive support
    • Work with PAHCC staff (and sending school guidance if needed) in all areas of assessment and support services including implementation of IEP/504 goals and accommodations
    • Title IX investigation as assigned by district Title IX coordinator
    • Assist in HHB investigations with the School Counseling Coordinator
    Coordinates accommodations related to the technical program in which the student is enrolled including:
    • Assist the technical education program instructor with modifying lessons and assessments and other curriculum materials as needed
    • Assist instructors with delivery of accommodations as agreed to during the IEP/504 meetings (ensuring that accommodations are detailed and align with the students’ IEPs)
    • Determine technical skill remediation related to technical education programs which could include modification of equipment and/or specialized equipment to the tech classroom
    • Establish and coordinate remedial support related to the technical program in which the students are enrolled
    • Monitor students for signs of disruptive behavior such as violence/safety, verbal outbursts, and episodes of destructiveness in efforts to curtail such behavior
    • Develop, implement and monitor behavior management plans and crisis intervention plans for assigned students as necessary
    • Assists the classroom teacher in providing effective, timely, and quality feedback on student progress to parents, students and sending school case managers according to IEP/504
    • Routinely observes student interactions and learning environments in the classroom, school and community to assess instructional effectiveness
    • Monitor grades for all students on plans and report as needed
    Provide staff development designed to assist technical education staff to provide programs and accommodations to meet the needs of students.
    • Assist with supervision of students as needed
    • Other duties as directed by PAHCC’s Director or Assistant Director
