Seasonal Tourism Attendant
Posted: 03/15/2025Work in one of the most beautiful locations in all of Vermont, the University of Vermont Morgan Horse Farm.
This National Historic Landmark is a University of Vermont teaching facility and home to a historically significant herd of Morgan horses, the Vermont State Animal. Each year we welcome thousands of visitors from all over the world between May and October.
We are looking for Tourism Attendants to join our team between mid-April and the end of October. Pay rate is between $15-$17 dollars/hour, commensurate on experience, (baby horse scratches are a notable non-monetary benefit).
Tourism attendants drive the guest experience by orienting guests upon arrival, giving guided tours, and operating the gift shop.
We are looking for candidates with professional communication skills, customer service experience, and a positive, team-oriented attitude. Must be able to work independently, and stand/walk for much of the day. Flexibility and dependability are a must.
Hours are between 9:30am and 4:30pm and we are open seven days/week. Multiple shifts are available with a start date of mid-April 2025. Offer contingent on a successful background screen.

Tourism Attendant skills and qualifications:- Professional communication skills
- Positive, team-oriented attitude
- Previous customer service/retail experience a plus
- Must be comfortable working with computers, communicating via email, and willing to learn QuickBooks and Peoplesoft, (UVM’s HR software)
- This position requires standing and/or walking for most of the day, with some opportunities for sitting
- Open the lobby and gift shop for daily business.
- Greet guests and orient them to the farm
- Take admission fees and run sales through QuickBooks point of sale
- Help restock inventory and maintain clean, attractive retail space
- Answer phones and communicate messages
- Complete raffle ticket orders and email receipts to customers
- Complete daily register closeout and reconcile sales
- Close down lobby and gift shop for end of day
- Greet guests upon arrival to the farm, orient them to the guest experience
- Give guided tours, (approximately thirty minutes in length)
- Answer guest questions
- Dust and clean the lobby
- Make sure the bathrooms remain clean and well stocked
- Support the gift shop staff with restocking inventory
- Help complete raffle ticket orders
- Cover breaks for gift shop staff
